Research Projects Working closely with university academics and students, Western Sydney International Airport will provide unique opportunities for industry and educators to collaborate to establish Western Sydney International Airport as an innovative and world-leading airport. Generation STEM We work with CSIRO on the Generation STEM initiative to attract, support, retain and train more NSW students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) study pathways and careers. We empower Year 9 and 10 students to take advantage of local opportunities and pursue a highly rewarding career. The program is community-driven, location-based and impact- focused, with a range of benefits for students and teachers. TAFE Programs TAFE NSW and Western Sydney International Airport have formed a partnership to provide Western Sydney students with a hands-on learning experience that blends theory with experience from aviation industry experts. Students learn foundational skills in Airport Ground Operations, Airport Security, Air Services, Drones and more. Kid Engineering the Skies Kids Engineering the Skies is a STEM collaboration between Cool Aeronautics, Western Sydney International Airport and Engineers Australia. The program is held at our airport Experience Centre and is designed to better equip students with the skills needed for investigation, critical thinking and problem solving in their future careers. ABCN Programs ABCN Programs We partner with Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN) to provide workplace-based and online mentoring to develop students’ skills and mindsets, confidence and aspirations Our Future is Bright Western Sydney International Airport also partners with Western Sydney Women’s Mentoring Program. The program focuses on building confidence of young women with one-on-one mentoring, weekly training, hands on experience days, access to guest speakers, networking, career guidance and job readiness tools. Western Sydney International Airport staff mentor students to inspire confidence to secure meaningful long-term employment and to seek further STEM education at the end of their studies.
