Undergraduate students at Western Sydney University (WSU) are gaining hands-on experience through collaborative research and design projects with the WSI team and partner organisations such as DXC Technology. These projects offer students the opportunity to work directly with industry professionals, including designers, technologists, and business stakeholders, on real-world challenges that are shaping the future of the airport.
As part of their final-year capstone subjects, students apply the full breadth of their academic learning in a practical setting. They engage in agile methodologies and use industry-leading tools to co-design and prototype innovative solutions. These projects focus on developing proof-of-concept technologies and applications that align with best practices in data, cybersecurity, and digital experience.
Students are not only contributing to the development of a world-class, future-ready airport - they’re helping to build one that reflects their generation’s expectations and values. Several students have continued their involvement with WSI beyond the research project, through securing roles with partner organisations and are launching their careers through the airport project.
This initiative provides a unique bridge between academic study and professional practice, empowering students to make a meaningful impact while preparing for their future careers.
